A Mediterranean-inspired garden on the outskirts of Rennes

A Mediterranean-inspired garden on the outskirts of Rennes

/3 min de lecture

Just a few kilometers from Rennes, this outdoor landscaping project perfectly illustrates a major trend: transforming one’s garden into a true living space that is at once aesthetically pleasing, well-structured, and exotic.

The goal here was clear: to create a warm atmosphere inspired by southern gardens, while respecting the Breton environment and everyday needs.

A Mediterranean atmosphere in the heart of Brittany

From the very beginning, the project focused on creating a sunny and welcoming atmosphere.

The idea was not to replicate a Mediterranean garden exactly, but to capture its spirit:

  • a graphic plant palette
  • warm materials
  • open and inviting spaces

All perfectly adapted to the local context.

A combination of materials to structure the spaces

The choice of materials was crucial to the project’s success.

The combination of exotic wood and porcelain stoneware creates:

  • an elegant contrast
  • visual continuity between areas
  • an atmosphere that is both modern and natural

These materials play a key role in defining the garden’s identity.

A pool designed as the centerpiece

At the heart of the design, the pool structures the entire project.

Designed as a lap pool, it provides:

  • a strong line
  • a clear definition of the space
  • a true focal point

Constructed using Magnélis steel panels, it combines durability, performance, and aesthetics.

Surrounding it, various terraces have been created to expand its uses:

  • reception area
  • sunbathing area
  • relaxation area

A garden with varying levels

To avoid an overly linear layout, work on the levels was incorporated from the design phase.

These variations allow for:

  • structure the spaces
  • to create depth
  • add visual dynamism

They also contribute to a better organization of the garden, without creating barriers.

A plant palette inspired by the South

The choice of plants plays a central role in the project’s identity.

Notably, these include:

  • olive trees
  • palm trees
  • Yucca rostrata
  • cycads
  • lavender

This plant arrangement immediately evokes a sense of escape, while maintaining a cohesive landscape design.

A project designed to be lived in

Beyond aesthetics, every element has been designed for everyday life.

The pathways have been carefully designed to:

  • facilitate movement
  • naturally connect spaces
  • enhance user comfort

The result: a fluid, pleasant, and functional garden.

A design true to the final result

As with every Creogarden project, it all began with a 3D landscape design.

This step allowed us to:

  • visualize the entire project
  • validate the layout choices
  • anticipate volumes and uses

The implementation, carried out by a partner landscape architect, was then faithful to this design.

A second phase to complete the project

This project doesn’t stop there.

A second phase is planned, including:

  • the development of the entrance
  • the creation of a pétanque court

These additions will enhance the welcoming atmosphere and complete this outdoor living space.

Conclusion

This project, carried out in the Rennes area, perfectly illustrates the importance of a holistic design approach.

By combining inspiration, materials, layout, and 3D rendering, it is possible to transform a standard outdoor space into a true living area.

With Creogarden, every project is thought through as a whole to create spaces that are aesthetic, functional, and sustainable.
